Preheat the oven to 350°F.
To make the syrup, place the Hawaiian honey, sugar, lemon zest, and juice in a saucepan over medium heat with 3/4 cup of water, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Simmer for 5-6 minutes or until thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Set aside to cool.
Place the macadamia, sesame seeds, and cinnamon in a food processor and pulse until finely ground. Add 1/4 cup syrup and blend until the mixture binds together.
Place 1 sheet of filo on a work surface and brush with butter. Brush 2 more sheets and stack each one on top of the other, creating a filo stack. Repeat for a total of 3 stacks.
Place the first stack in the bottom of a lightly buttered baking dish. Spoon half of the nut mixture over the first layer of the pastry, spreading into a thin layer. Place another filo stack over the nut mixture.
Spoon the other half of the nut mixture onto the pastry, again spreading into a thin layer. Cover it with the third layer of filo stack and brush with more melted butter.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until crisp and golden. Remove from the oven, cut into squares, and pour over the remaining syrup while still hot.
To serve, trim any uneven ends, scatter with finely chopped, lightly toasted macadamia nuts, and dust with powdered sugar. Sprinkle with additional lime zest if desired.
